Crafting a card counts towards acquiring it, and any cards you acquire and later disenchant whether golden or non-golden count as well. This change does not affect the overall distribution of rarities in card packs. Starting March 26th, players new to the game who graduate from the New Player ranks will get a free deck from a class of their choice, built with cards from the Year of the Dragon! Wings of Liberty focuses on the Terrans, while the expansions, Heart of the Swarm and Legacy of the Void , focus on the Zerg and Protoss, respectively.
The game is set four years after the events of ‘s Brood War , and follows the exploits of Jim Raynor as he leads an insurgent group against the autocratic Terran Dominion. The game includes new and returning characters and locations from the original game. Similar to its predecessor, StarCraft II was praised for its engaging gameplay, as well as its introduction of new features and improved storytelling. You’ll be able to access your friends list at any point, whether playing camapaign or multiplayer, and it will be unified across all Blizzard games, starting with World of Warcraft.
There will be an instant-messenger style chat system, with separate windows for personal, party and clan chats. Fans came back. Pro leagues, though smaller than at their zenith, have returned and brought with them some of gaming’s best narratives today. Anything from the early days – a philosophy of design, or an approach to updates – that got thrown out as time went on? Matt Morris: There are several things that I can think of that changed over time. In Wings of Liberty, the campaign mission mechanics were built around introducing new units.
The mission was built around these units being very effective against large swarm of Zerglings. The Firebats excelled at destroying Zerglings, and this allowed the design team to really crank up the Zerg threat without really putting too much danger on the player. We also departed from alternate story arc endings, we thought having alternative story beats and different content would really change how we approached story telling in RTS campaigns.
The reality is players picked an ending and never went back to try the other option. Some did, but not enough to warrant the time and effort that went into those missions. But what we found players doing is they would bank their credits and make a purchase later down the road, which is not what we wanted. With Heart of the Swarm we had our mutation system, where we created missions where the player would playtest both new mutation upgrades, and after about 10 minutes of wreaking havoc the players would decide which mutation they liked the most.
This allowed players to modify every unit they earned, without worrying about using credits that might take away from an upgrade down the road. During Legacy of the Void development the design team was really humming along.

After the events of StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty , Sarah Kerrigan, the Queen of Blades and leader of a race of power hungry aliens called the Zerg, has had her humanity restored by an ancient artifact and has been reunited with her old flame and companion, Jim Raynor. Still retaining her influence over the Zerg, Kerrigan vows revenge against Emperor Mengsk, the man who sacrificed her to the Zerg in the first place and who is responsible for the deaths of millions of Terrans the human race.
The campaign in StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm is different from previous games in the series in that the player is able to build up Kerrigan as a hero unit throughout the entire campaign. By completing missions and optional secondary objectives Kerrigan gains levels to increase her strength and to learn new abilities. Getting Kerrigan to her maximum level unlocks some absolutely devastating abilities, and developing her power adds a lot of fun to the game. Also, the player can replay levels in which he or she missed the optional objectives, so it is never impossible to reach the maximum level.

That mode does not apply co-op achievements, even in versus A. The co-op for StarCraft II is, simply put, comp stomp. This particular comp-stomp does add a few nice elements that those of use who appreciate co-op will love. First, you can share Minerals or Vespine gas to help each other out. Blizzard is also a company that is very fond of keeping their games fresh and new. This is an encouraging element for those of us experiencing a few issues, and we actually appreciate that more than condemn them for it.
For parents that would like their kids to enjoy the StarCraft they experienced 12 years ago, but are worried about the shmucks of the internet misbehaving, there are also violence and language filters. Perfect for any wary parent, but they are also optional for those of us that enjoy our games as they were made: full of violence and gooey gory Zerg.
The multiplayer gameplay in both modes in general seems a bit gimped compared to the main game. This feels a bit odd, especially in co-op it would be especially co-opish if healers healed ALL friendly units, as well. Perhaps it was intentional to leave out some of the more impressive units, to balance the races a bit more, or draw people to the campaign element of the game. The co-op comp-stomp is also limited to simple RTS tactics.
